Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Located on M 72 just before Empire, the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center is named for the long-time Michigan senator whose efforts were central to establishing Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Seven days a week from:
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (summer)
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (winter)

Located 2 miles south of the Lodge. The largest mall in the Traverse City area with over 100 stores, the Grand Traverse Mall opened in 1992 and immediately began attracting well-known stores as tenants and quantities of customers from close by and from as far away as three hours.
Mall Hours:
Mon-Sat: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

A hands-on Discovery Gallery is especially popular with children. The Milliken Auditorium showcases the performing arts, including theatre, dance and music. The museum store offers a variety of gifts.

Four miles north of Frankfort on M-22, marks the southern entrance to the Manitou Passage, and there has been a lighthouse here since 1858.

The professionals and volunteers who make up Old Town today are proud to be performing a busy season of dramas, musicals, and comedies as well as a season of classics. Also every Sunday throughout the year from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, they hold improv sessions including games and skits that have been created for improv and seen on TV. Grand Traverse Bay Public Beach Access

Whether you’re in the mood to be a beach bum or build a sand castle, you can find what you’re looking for at the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay beaches where you can’t count the number of blue’s in the water.   Nearest public access only 2 miles north of the Great Wolf Lodge of Traverse City.

Downtown Traverse City

The downtown area of Traverse City isn’t just a place for shopping, it’s a visual feast of 19th century design and historical buildings such as the City Opera House. Of course, shopping IS involved in more than 100 specialty shops ranging from clothing to antiques to kites, books, and bikes. Downtown Traverse City is located just two miles from the Great Wolf Lodge.

One of the oldest lighthouses on the lakes, the Grand Traverse Lighthouse at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula has guided ships through the northern entrance to the Manitou Passage for 150 years. Museum admission fee $2.
