#1 Paper Plate Butterfly
This paper plate butterfly craft uses simple materials and features an everyday object – a paper plate that will be transformed into a beautiful one-of-a-kind butterfly! You’ll need paper plates with a floral design, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, pom poms and glue, scissors, a pencil and markers. You can even use a thin, white plate and draws flowers on it instead of using a floral plate. Here are the full instructions.
#2 Paper Bag Butterfly
The paper bag butterfly is perfect if you’re short on supplies but have paper lunch bags on hand! This spring craft is great for preschoolers and kindergarten kids because you can simplify it to just a few steps. To start, you’ll need a lunch bag that you can decorate with markers, glitter or even pieces of construction paper glued on to make butterfly patterns. You’ll also need tissue paper, pipe cleaners, googly eyes and glue and markers.
You’ll either be making wings with tissue paper or cutting out wings from construction paper. Just fold the construction paper in half, draw a big letter “B” on the fold and cut it out to create the perfect pair of wings! You’ll also be creating a face on the bag. This is where the googly eyes come in to play! For step-by-step instructions click here. You can even download and print a butterfly craft template that will have eyes, cheeks and stripes for the body here.
#3 Tie Dye Butterfly
This tie dye butterfly art and craft will brighten the house and can be created with just a few materials one of which you might already have at home – coffee filters! Who knew they could be repurposed into a beautiful craft? You’ll also need clothes pins, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, markers, a water dropper, glue and scissors. First, kids will color the coffee filter. Next, add little drops of water on the coffee filter to spread the marker around in a beautiful effect. After drying, kids can decorate the clothes pin and add googly eyes and a face. For more instructions check out this how to guide.
#4 Butterfly Rings
Butterfly rings are a colorful bit of art that you can wear on your hand and can customize with any color pipe cleaner! Don’t feel limited to creating just one, you can make multiple butterfly rings and have one or more on each hand. This is a great project that only requires one material – colorful pipe cleaners. You’ll twist piper cleaners a few times around the middle to get them to fit on your finger and then create the wings. You can mix it up with a two-color butterfly or just use one color. The body will be a small, black pipe cleaner which you’ll wrap to create short antennae. Check out the details here.
